In last weekends football beating from Northwestern, Purdue's kicker, Carson Wiggs, did not display his best performance. Although Wiggs was able to make 2 field goals from 20 and 37 yards out, he was unable to come away with one of the gimme extra points after a touchdown. This was one of the things that Summers occasionally did and is a big part of the reason that the fans started to boo and dislike Summers. A football team needs a kicker that they can depend on and is consistent. How can a kicker make a 53 yard field goal and then miss an extra point from only a couple yards away? If Carson Wiggs doesn't step up and become more consistent, fans may start disliking him for the same reasons as Chris Summers.

Being a cheerleader, I have witnessed this seasons upsets and I have to say I am very disappointed in the performance of our kickers. How many times can you really miss a field goal or a PAT? Wouldn't you think maybe he'd practice more or try a little harder? I'm sure he has to know that nobody is happy with the way our kickers have been kicking all season. Its very frustrating to watch yet another field goal missed. Since I stand on the field below the student section it is very easy for me to hear all the boos and bad mouthing that goes on during the game so I know how out fans feel about these missed field goals. Nice blog. Hope this weekends game turns out to be a WIN!!
